From growing veggies and keeping backyard chooks to ‘speed dating’ a sustainability expert, there is something for everyone at this year’s Boroondara Sustainable Living Festival. Here is a taste of what is happening on the day:

  • Wild Action native animal show: Meet Chris Humfrey and get up close and personal with his amazing collection of native animals.
  • Kids: Create your very own unique working puppet made completely out of recycled and reused materials, discovers the hidden mini beasts of our waterways and make your own smoothie on their smoothie bike!
  • Speed date a sustainability expert: Speak to our experts and get valuable tips on renewable energy, green home design and water conservation.
  • Worms not waste: Get expert advice on worm farming and composting. You will also be able to pick up free worm juice plant fertiliser and find out how to order a discounted worm farm or compost bin.
  • Feathered friends: Meet the friendly backyard chooks and learn how to keep your own lively egg-producing friends at home.
  • Incredible edibles: Get expert advice and see demonstrations on growing your own fruit and vegetables. Get in early to pick up a free seedling.
  • Waste smart: Have a look inside a garbage truck, chat to the driver and learn more about home waste reduction and recycling in Boroondara.
  • Green cleaning: A Green cleaning expert from Fresh Clean Green will take you through four simple steps to achieve a clean, safe and healthy home.
