Join healthAbility for this free professional learning workshop on providing successful food education experiences. Edible school gardens are an increasingly popular way for schools to promote healthy eating and environmental sustainability. Teaching children to grow, harvest, prepare and share their own fruit and vegetables is proven to have a positive impact on the food choices students make. School kitchen gardens are an exciting resource for learning.

Brought to you by Nillumbik Healthy Schools, the health promoting schools initiative of healthAbility, the workshop will include:

  • The Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation showcasing the benefits of kitchen gardens in providing pleasurable food education.
  • Best practice advice for managing a successful kitchen garden program.
  • Tips, resources and local supports available for getting your kitchen gardening program growing.
  • A reflective look at the Hurstbridge Primary School kitchen garden story & community in action.
