The Heritage and Rare Fruit Network began with a grafting day in Briagolong in 1990. 25 years on the network still holds grafting days each year in locations across the State from Warrnambool to Werribee and Mansfield to Meerlieu, providing an opportunity for home gardeners to establish or expand a fruit tree collection with diverse varieties. This year it is estimated that approximately 16000 (sixteen thousand) rootstocks will be grafted. Rootstock is selected for properties such as drought resistance, vigorous growth, soil preference etc. The network can be contacted via their website.
