Lisa Zanella from Darebin Fruit Squad described their model of a food security project at our AGM last Saturday. The idea is to harvest unwanted fruit from people’s backyards, with their permission of course, and to distribute it to those who are short of food. The volunteers in the project also attended training at NMIT and will continue to maintain the fruit trees and also train new volunteers. For more information, contact the Jika Jika Community Centre.

Membership of Local Food Connect

We are now in a position to offer a lower membership fee to all who join LFC in the future. Ditto people who renew their membership. We hope that it encourages many more of our readers to join and become more active in food projects. For more information please check the membership page.
