Swap news

Please check on the calendar on the website for updates on the swaps over the holidays. For example, Edendale will not have a swap in December and Montmorency is on the second Sunday of January instead of the first.

This Saturday there will be a talk about alliums after the Rivers Produce Exchange.

Did you hear that there is going to be a giant veggie swap in February next year. It will be in Macleod with more details closer to the date.

Hurstbridge Family fun day

This Saturday, 9am to 1pm. Seek out the local food. One example is the locally produced gourmet produce from Under the Pickle Tree. It will be available at a special street stall outside Clints Butchers.

Home growers

If you haven’t yet signed up to provide some produce for the Home Harvest Feast in March 2014, I encourage you to do so now. By signing up, you not only gain entry to the feast, but benefit from free workshops, vouchers and other activities.

A Veggie Propagation workshop, free to Home Harvest Feast growers, is on at Edendale next Thursday, 6-7:30pm.

Open Gardens

Virginia Solomon is opening her permaculture garden to the public on Saturday December 14, 9:30am -4pm, $10 entry. The garden is open to raise money for young Australian, Jock Palfreeman, who is in a Bulgarian prison accused of murder. Garden notes and plan, free tea/coffee and a Christmas treat, free plant or seeds to plant for Jock at 103 Thompson Crescent, Research.
