Munir and Mittul’s compact courtyard garden

Through smart design, Munir and Mittul have created a productive growing space in a small courtyard, with room to spare to enjoy a backyard barbecue. Making the most of the northerly aspect, the garden features passionfruit vines, chilli bushes, dwarf nectarine, fig, strawberry guava, avocado, cherry, mandarin and apple trees. Raised keyhole garden beds with drip irrigation maximise the water and nutrient efficiency for growing vegetables and herbs. A chook house refurbished from an old bamboo cubby house completes the picture. Munir and Mittul are also the founders of Giant Grass Design, designing and building structures from ecologically sustainable bamboo.
