This is a fundraising event for the Biodynamics in Community project, which aims to support those in need through growing biodynamic produce. The project has been offered a grant of $8,000 from the Federal Government, which they need to match.

The program:

  • 9.30am: Opening verse and introduction. Meet and greet circle: getting to know each other and posing questions.

  • 10.15am: Working with the calendar – each person will need to have a current calendar to work with, notepad and pen, coloured pencils, and an A3 sketch pad each. The focus at this point will be on overviewing and planning for the Spring/Summer garden, either the Centre’s garden or their own. Each participant will be invited to contribute. Essentially the calendar is a symbol of the rhythms of the four elements: earth, water, fire and air.

  • 11.00am: Morning tea interval will give a chance for grounding that focus.

  • 11.15am: Visit to the garden to see how our ideas sit within the landscape.

  • 12.15pm: Lunch – bring your own to share.

  • 1.00pm: Seeds and the seeds list to choose what to sow and the how, when, where, why and what of placement within the garden. Planting – raised beds, irrigation & drainage, aspect, who grows with whom and how, companion plants, green manure, rotation crops. Propagation techniques and appropriate timing in relation to the calendar.

  • 2.45pm: Afternoon tea.

  • 3.00pm: Maximising biodynamic production with a focus on inspecting current compost and seed raising materials available and looking at how to source the necessary resources to set up and make a Biodynamic seedraising soil mix on site. Harvesting and preserving the garden produce. Storing – fridge and freezer. Keeping – cool place, away from light.

  • 3.45pm: A group action plan to which the participants are happy to commit to going forward with. During this session we will make time for purchasing /ordering seeds.

  • 4.30pm: Finish.
