Other food activities/information

A favourite organic gardening magazine arrived in the post this week. There are many interesting articles but “free-thinking farmers” in particular relates to possibilities for the outer reaches of Nillumbik Shire. It is about a couple, Michael Plane and Joyce Wilkie, whose farm just outside Canberra provides not only local produce to several cafes and restaurants in Canberra, but an education for those wishing to learn about market garden production. Wouldn’t this be a great project outcome from the Local Food Economy Q &A being held at Edendale on March 18?

Author Dave Jacke of Edible forest gardens is coming to Melbourne March 8 -10 to give a public talk and 2 day workshop on forest garden design. For more information see www.milkwood.net/2013/02/06/edible-forest-gardens-author-dave-jacke-is-coming-to-australia This evening would be a great follow up to the first Harvest month Food Film night held at Edendale on March 6.
